• This event was an annual professional surfing competition held at Makaha on the west side of Oahu, Hawail.
• It was organized by Honolulu surfer and restaurant supplier John Lind and sponsored by the Waianae Lions Club and the Waikiki Surf Club.
• The championships were held until 1971, typically in November or December.
• In the late 1950s, the Makaha International Surfing Championships were considered a premier event in the surfing world.
