Extremely rare vintage Pakistani Toran blanket / heavy tapestry. measures 76” inches x 56” inches (approx queen size) This is handmade with mirrors, ties, poms, beads, and other embellishments.
When this came to the US, it was brought home by a soldier. well hidden because they were not allowed to be imported. So it is a very rare find here in the US.
Some use them as tapestries but they are a bit heavy for that. More often, they are used as bedspreads.
About Torans:
Fabulous Embroidered Pakistani Toran
with mirrors and beads within the design handmade from vintage ceremonial saris, Cloth silk wool and cotton. Some pieces are as old is 100 years old. These Torans are handmade by women in Poor Villages and sold to help feed their families. These are no longer allowed to be imported into the U.S. This is really a treasure!
The few that are now in the US are either family heirlooms or were brought home by US soldiers who fought there
