She is enchanting with Regency era upswept curls and ringlets at the nape of her neck, a bandeau with a flower, exquisitely carved from Cornelian shell (Cypraeacassis Rufa) and in a 14K yellow gold picture frame setting. The carver placed the flower in just the right spot on the shell for a pop of color. Behind her is a lyre, so perhaps she is Euterpe, the muse of music. The style of the carving, the woman's features, and the setting lead me to believe this is Italian, circa 1950s. The handmade clasp and tube hinge are in excellent vintage condition, as if it was rarely worn. The cameo is flawless.
