The book covers sections of years of Oliver Goldsmith's life and his writings. For example, section one covers 1728-1745. Section two covers 1745-1749 and is named "College". The book has several half-page illustrations. The cover is full leather in a red maroon color with a gold center cover emblem. The backstrip has five raised bands with elaborate gilt decoration including a flower and a brown leather title block. There is some crackle in the leather on the backstrip. The leather on the lower backstrip is chipped / bumped. The upper right cover corner is bumped. There are a few scratches or small divots in the back cover. The marbling on the outside of the pages is pictured. The the top of a section of pages is chip / bumped and is pictured from the top of the book. The endpapers are marbled.
