First edition, third printing hardcover copy of The People, Yes by Carl Sandburg (Harcourt Brace & Company, 1937). Long form groundbreaking political / philosophical poem by the author of political biographies, historical nonfiction and poetry inspired by America and it’s place in the world. Jacket is protected in mylar sleeve but previously experienced moderate wear, especially around the edges where there are tears and chipping in places. Some small pieces of jacket missing at corners and spine ends. Liner flap corners are clipped. Boards are straight and clean save for small stain on bottom right corner of front board and with bumps to spine ends and corners. Some tanning to pages, especially endpapers and very sparse and mild staining to a few pages. Spine is straight and binding remains fairly firm with hinges secure. See photos for condition.
