*Read: Stand thoroughly cleaned and degreased, then lubed with graphite. Some pieces repaired or replaced. The stand operates to a certain degree (see video above). It will operate on the surge voltage that always happens when you first plug it in or turn the transformer on. By 'chattering' the plug I was able to make it move. If it is just plugged straight in, it will sit there and hum. This means (most likely) that the string on the vibromotor needs to be played with to tune it in to just the right tension. After doing all the work I did, I was just too tired to mess with it any more.

The Animated News Stand No. 128 was produced between 1957 and 1960 and relied on levers and gears to rotate the news boy, move the news attendant to the front counter, and move the dog around the fire hydrant. The operating voltage was critical to proper operation of this accessory.
