Mid 20th Century Chinese cloisonne on brass Tang horse sculpture. (estimated 1900-1930)
The figure is positioned in a prancing position with his head up and one hoof raised.
The horse has a large three-piece detachable saddle and has detachable mane. There is also a small detachable emblem at the neck
One prong of the smaller side saddle piece is missing and the other prong on that piece is weak - but can be soldered.
There are no dents or scrapes on this horse but there are a very few small areas where the enamel is damaged. It is very hard to take a picture of as they are so small. Hind legs show some wear on the inside but are not easily seen when the horse is in standing position. This is a hard to find sculpture and I've never seen in red. Sothebys and other sites have similar horses (with flaws listed) at $1500 and above. Please see pictures.
Gorgeous intricate enamel pattern with a rare image of face above the tail! Hooves and ears are gilded brass.
