This is a set of 6 Mid-Century Modern highball glasses by Fran Taylor's Gay Fad Studio in the "Tribute to Firefighters" pattern.
Decorated with red enamel and 22k gold, each glass has images of antique fire wagons in embossed gold with a caption identifying each wagon. In addition, the glasses have vertical bars with various words and phrases typically heard at the firehouse or at scene of a fire.
Phrases include: “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire”; “Three Alarm Fire”; and “Hook and Ladder”.
Engines include:
- Baltimore's Chemical Fire Engine
- New York's Veteran Fireman's Engine
- Poughkeepsie's Phoenix Hose #1
- New York's Howard Engine 34
All glasses are in excellent condition. The gold is intact. The words are legible. They look hardly used if used at all.
They measure approximately 5 1/2 inches tall and 2 3/4 inches at the mouth.
