I purchased this used about 30 years ago and it was a camera I used until the end of film photography, along with the EOS-5. After switching to digital, I stored it in a dry cabinet, but I am putting it up for sale due to decluttering and end-of-life preparations.

The A-1 was a full-electronic control camera ahead of its time, produced as the culmination of Canon's SLR boom that began with the AE-1. It had five exposure control modes, including shutter speed/aperture priority AE and program AE, and was packed with advanced features such as information display using red LEDs in the viewfinder.

A major advantage is that it uses the 4LR44 battery, which is still available today, instead of the mercury batteries that were common in those days.

The A-1 is a fully electronic camera, so the shutter will not function properly without power. Therefore, I purchased a new 4LR44 battery for the first time in a while for this sale and confirmed the following operations:

① When the battery check button is pressed, the red lamp next to the shutter blinked rapidly. (= Power on OK, battery level OK)
② As shown in the attached photos, the red LEDs in the viewfinder displayed the shutter speed and aperture value in each AE mode, and changed according to the brightness. (= AE function OK)

Based on my experience, I believe this unit is functioning normally because I have confirmed ① and ②, but I have not confirmed the results of shooting with film this time, so it is only a guess.

Since it was stored in a dry cabinet, there are no major scratches or stains on the exterior, and there is some paint peeling on the battery box lid, but I think it is in good condition for a camera that is almost half a century old, so please judge from the photos.

I am not an expert, but I think the two lenses are also in good condition, with no noticeable dirt or scratches.

Please consider purchasing after understanding the above.
