This is a beautiful hand carved Chinese wood brush pot with lilies and a bird in flight decoration. A brush pot (Bitong) is of cylindrical form slightly flaring at the mouth. It is incised with double line bands at mouth and foot, and a neatly rounded base unglazed.
It is bamboo and stained to be 2 tones and give it the 3D effect.
Measurements are 6.5" tall × 4" wide and 5.5" deep.
In China, the Chinese Sacred Lily is prized as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune, even more so if the bulbs flower during Spring Festival, Chinese New Year.
This piece can fit in many home decor styles! Could be used to hold artificial flowers, paint brushes or kitchen utensils.
