Beautiful vintage Japanese Somayaki / Obori Soma-yaki “Soma Ware” tea set, in celadon crackle glaze with the classic double-walled construction and heart-shaped cutouts around the lower body of each piece.
The design shows the traditional running horse motif with wavy brush strokes, symbolizing the sacred Soma horse, over a green celadon glaze with strong crazing. The cutouts are the typical “heart” shapes used on Soma Ware (traditional nami-chidori / plover & wave motif), and the inner wall makes the set pleasantly insulated – hot tea stays warm while the outside stays cool. 
The sugar lid is impressed “MADE JAPAN”, consistent with mid-century Somayaki export pieces often sold under the Otagiri name (foil label usually missing on older sets).
This style was produced in Fukushima Prefecture and exported heavily to the U.S. in the mid-20th century.
