These socks were brought back from Mongolia in 2001 - after the very first Doctors Without Borders mission to the country.
They are called Medical Socks because locals found that the combination of Dog's wool and lamb's wool was the only one capable of fully preserving body heat - much needed during harsh winters - local doctors would actually "prescribe" these to people with poor blood circulation.
Dog's wool is much, much warmer than any other wool out there including yak, camel, sheep, lamb, or alpaca and others.
So warm that you have to mix it with other wool for it to be wearable for a long period of time.
These socks are a combination of dog's and lamb's wool ( 95%) and lycra (5%)
