Not exactly sure what this is/was--I was guessing some sort of HVAC register/return grate, but there are holes in only two corners, and the open spaces seem quite large for a proper floor vent (i.e., where lots of items could fall through)

Still, a very pretty piece, whatever architectural or decorative purpose it served

Measures about 9” square

Good condition; heavy / very sturdy; natural patina or rust cosmetically; looks like a small bit is missing on the underside at one of the corners (see last photo)
