The presumption was that anything that smelled so vile must have enormous curative powers"

Surbex-T was a vitamin produced by Abbott Laboratories and newspaper advertisements for the product began appearing in 1961. This would have been used to dissuade consumers to abandon traditional remedies such as Oil of Valerian and turn to their new multivitamin instead.
