Truly, this bright grass-green ashtray is eye-catching. The shape is decidedly biomorphic--a clover, or a flower in full bloom. Illuminating the piece reveals captured air bubbles , as well as a distinct star created by smoothing the pontil scar. The glass folds swirl like rivulets, a design aided by the Sommerso layering of clear glass beneath green. The glass-waves break between the 3 lobes, creating cigarette rests.
The dish measures 6" across, 2.75" tall. It is in top condition--only a spot of roughness around the otherwise smooth pontil; I believe it to be from the process of separating the blown glass from the rod during the glass-making process.
