Wonderful 1850 to 1880 Victorian Mold Blown (that’s how the makers got 10 flat panels, which hand blown techniques couldn’t achieve) Muffineer. A Muffineer was a canister for Victorian Era diners to put mostly fine grained sugar into...then they sugared most everything to give it sweetness. This 4 1/4” tall, 2 2/8” diameter at bottom, and 1 1/2” shoulder diameter is tapered going up vertically, where each of the 10 flat panels loses 1/8” from the bottom to the top, which is a subtle tapering. What’s so rare about this Muffineer is that it’s all glass, having a glass lid instead of the normal silver or metal one. The glass lid is nicely threaded and fits easily as a screw-on top over the shoulder of the Muffineer canister. On top of the lid the glass is glazed...for fashion. There are 16 holes in this lid top. Today in addition to find grained sugar, cinnamon is a favorite for these old 1800’s works of Art. The asymmetry of the bottom unevenly distributed glass is Art. Made in England.
