In my everyday life I am a jeweler n for roughly 15 years I have specialized in vintage and antique jewelry. However I haven’t sold much on this site or even tried to. I thought I’d start a tradition of listing a few pieces every Saturday and see how it goes ... so starting now on March 27 I can keep a record: this is costume jewelry from the 1950s but I was surprised to discover that it is in fact made of shell so is indeed a real cameo. Often people will purchase a cameo like this and put it into a real gold or silver cameo. That’s likely what happened here when in the 1950s cameos became very popular people often did the reverse as in take them out of gold or silver etc.
