Royal Doulton Figurine HN 2943 "The China Repairer" 1982. In amidst the beautiful Doulton china ladies of this series, this figurine depicts the kindly and experienced white-haired old China Repairer at his workbench mending the head of a china horse, while a china lady waits her turn to have her head put back on. The tools of the China Repairer's trade are laid out on the bench and four attractively-coloured jars are seen in front of it, all as part of the figurine. Designed by R Tabbenor and made in Staffordshire, England, in fine bone china. The base is marked “Made in England” and dated 1982 – the authoritative Charlton Standard Catalogue says “Issued: 1982 Canada, 1983 Worldwide - 1988” so, although this figure has remained in the country since made in England and bought new, it is presumably one of the earliest ones. Offered in the original Royal Doulton box as per the photos. Will brighten up any display of Doulton figurines by adding a further original Doulton figurine to them depicting a contrasting scene! Belonged to my late Mother in Law, who was a collector of Royal Doulton figurines.
