BOEHM "Baby Koala" #400-36 in MINT condition.
An adorable baby koala, that is 9 1/4 inches tall, 9 3/8 inches at its widest, and 7 inches deep. Measurements are approximate and are taken at its tallest, longest, widest. This baby koala sits on an oval platform, with curled branches and leaves, and in its clawed paws, hold a long blade of leaf. Unique to this figurine is its adorable droopy eye look and incredible detail, right down to the markings on its fur.
"Boehm is the collector's name for the porcelains of Edward Marshall Boehm. In 1949, Boehm had developed a hard-paste porcelain that he used to make sculptures. He started the Osso China Company and in 1953 it was reorganized as Edward Marshall Boehm, Inc. The company is still working in New Jersey. In the early days of the factory, dishes were made, but the elaborate and lifelike bird figurines are the best-known ware. Edward Marshall Boehm, the founder, died in 1969, but the firm has continued to design and produce porcelain.
