Rare handcrafted antique 18th century 6.5 Carat oval cut cabochon seawater blue aquamarine and 925. sterling silver ring. It shows to be a size 9, if I am reading my sizer correctly. There were not many of these on the internet, but what I did find was that the gemstone has origins from the mountains in Siberia. This ring is in very good condition and I do not see any cracks in the gemstone. It has some scratches, which is expected, on the silver and I tried to show this in pics. I found some interesting stories about the gem. One of them is: Aquamarine is Latin for water. The Greeks believed that aquamarine held the spirit and the essence of the sea, claiming it protected the wearer from adversities at sea, prevent sea sickness, and promote courage and strong will. Which I guess is why they call it a mariners ring.
