In November of 1975, founder and vocalist Glenn T. Wright (Glenny T.) formed Fourteen Karat Soul. All members were chosen according to age, reputation, personality, and of course vocal ability. Glenn's idea, at the time, was to create the best singing group in East Orange, N.J. In order to achieve this, he realized that he must find members equal to or better than himself. Glenn found what he believed to be the best voices in East Orange. These voices were now termed as "the best teenage singing group in America." Russell Fox II, Brian "Le Mont" Simpson, Davis S. Thurmond, Reginald "Briz" Brisbon, and himself, Glenn "Glenny T." Wright - five young gentlemen, each with a distinctive quality of his own, and yet, containing the magic and feeling to make Fourteen Karat Soul a unique, solid, and electrifying talent. Their repertoire spans the years of vocal singing from Gospel to Disco, Rhythm & Blues to Rock & Roll, and Doo-Wop to Acappella. With or without background instruments, they were probably the best teenage singing group in the music business of their day. They began like many others: in church, high school, and amateur talent contests. They were also influenced by their families, television commercials, and from some 1950s and 1960s records, which projected harmonizing by 4 or 5 individuals in which the human ear could distinguish different parts of harmony, meaning, bass, baritone, tenors and leads. In their choice of material, it would be wrong to assume they only leaned towards the groups of the 50s and 60s. Their desires were to better themselves vocally and professionally by being exposed to all the best vocalists that music had to offer - and at the same time, be able to put the Fourteen Karat Soul label on it. First released over 45 years ago, this historic album has been newly remastered and finally made available in the digital domain. .
