King Friday believes life will be easier if everyone looks alike, so he announces that every citizen of the Neighborhood of Make-Believe should look like him. There is frustrating confusion when no one can tell who is who anymore. Lady Elaine Fairchilde steps forward to confront King Friday about the problem and helps him understand that every person contributes something meaningful and unique. By the end of the story, the neighbors return to being themselves and discover that they are special in their own way.
