This small collar is made entirely by hand, using the Irish crochet technique. Each flower, leaf, and spiral motif crocheted individually, then joined with fine chain stitch and picot mesh. The dense, dimensional flowers at the front taper into lighter openwork at the back, giving it a refined shape that would have framed the neckline of an Edwardian blouse or chemisette.

The fine padding cord and the natural ecru shade suggest early 1900s domestic Irish work rather than later factory production. Pieces like this were often handmade by womens cooperatives and sold through lace guilds or exported for couture dressmaking.
