It's a very old piece, estate sale find. I'm not sure about the purpose but it looks like a planter. There's a removable inner basket with holes so the water would drain? It's very solid and heavy. Outer length is 12", width 4,5" and height is 5". Inner planter is 9,75" long, 2,25" wide and 2,75" deep
featuring a detailed neoclassical relief of cherubs playing musical instruments around a central figure. Retains original red and gold polychrome paint with aged patina. Likely dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. Perfect for use as a tabletop jardinière, decorative accent, or historic garden display.
